The verse warns against mocking one’s father or despising one’s mother, and Gothard emphasizes it with disturbing imagery: a raven pecking at the eye of a cow. While the verse uses the word “eagle,” the original Hebrew likely refers to a vulture—adding another layer of horror for young children being taught these lessons. This kind of artwork wasn’t uncommon in IBLP—it was part of a broader pattern of using fear and visual shock to instill obedience.
