In this episode, we wrap up the “What If a Father Has Already Failed?” page from the IBLP Men’s Manual and unpack how Bill Gothard weaponizes failure, parenting struggles, and spiritual guilt. Gothard teaches that if you’re failing as a father, it’s because of disobedience—and that dangerous logic keeps people trapped, always chasing the next “spiritual solution.”
We’ll also look at how the phrase “doing it in your own strength” was used to judge people for struggling, unless those struggles could somehow glorify the system. And if that’s not wild enough, wait until we talk about how a “slothful” son is apparently going to beat his much older father to retirement (???), and why daughters are told to adopt their father’s “God-given goals.” You can’t make this stuff up—but Gothard did. Join me as we examine how spiritual manipulation, blame-shifting, and cult-style control are disguised as parenting advice in IBLP’s materials.
