A commenter accused me of calling the Black Coroner racist. First of all, I said no such thing. It makes me wonder if the people that makes comments like this are racist. I have a suspicion, and I’m usually right. When you were one, you know how to spot it. Yes, I was racist in my past. I grew up in a racist family and learned some horrific and ignorant things about black people. I was also in two cults, one was more covert about their racism, and the other one was blatant! I never liked the blatant racism, but as a grew up I realized that I had internal racism that I needed to deconstruct. I have been on a journey to learn more about the real history of our nation and how systemic racism has affected our Indigenous, black, and brown neighbors. Racism is never ok, and it’s time for white people to call it out when we see it. Silence only perpetuate the cycle and systems that keep racism alive!
